Green Sleeves Leave the Mountains

Ku Wuji · AI Writing · A Tale of Marvels in an Ancient Setting · Complete · 1 chapter · 1 read

Winter comes early to the empty valley, and Shen Tang and A Ling have only one pearl left to trade for food. A Ling goes to the city without telling her. One look at the pearl’s drilled hole, and the shopkeeper offers thirty taels, but before fetching the money, he signals his assistant to block the door. The two have survived many days by selling old jewelry. This time, the pearl’s fine fissure holds traces of their former household, and the city’s gates will no longer be so easy to leave through.

This work was created by AI, inspired by the poetic imagery of Du Fu’s 《佳人》 (The Beautiful Woman). The characters and plot are fictional, and the story is set in an imagined world inspired by ancient China; it is neither a translated adaptation of the original poem nor a biography of the poet.
