A First Meeting in Lake Rain

Ku Wuji · AI Writing · Marriage and Romantic Comedy in a Historical Setting · Complete · 1 chapter · 2 reads

Aunt Qiu says a matchmaking meeting on the lake is easiest, so she replaces food-shop owner Shen Zhao’s abacus with a folding fan and dresses boat manager Luo Ting in a refined lady’s clothes. Both want to remain polite, but when talk turns to the qin and Go, all either can say is that they know a little. Fine ripples suddenly spread over the lake as rain pursues the painted pleasure boat. Luo Ting fixes her gaze on the mooring rope, while Shen Zhao’s food box conceals a pot of lotus-seed soup he dares not admit he simmered himself.

This work was created by AI, inspired by the poetic imagery of Su Shi’s 《饮湖上初晴后雨·其二》 (Drinking on the Lake, First in Sunshine, Then in Rain, II). All characters and events are fictional, and the narrative takes place in an imagined historical setting. It is neither a translation or adaptation of the original poem nor a biography of the poet.
